Kinmel Park Racing Circuit

1969 and 1970

Below are some cuttings of the meeting at the end of October 1970, they are from the Motor Cycle of 4th November 1970. Dave Kruse kindly provided these.

J. Coupland, 650cc FMDS sidecar outfit. I think this is the corner by the Army huts which have now gone at the lower end of the course. This is where the solos started in 1970 and is actually now alongside the present day A55 road. The sidecar races in 1970 were run in the reverse direction.

D.B. Tandy, 350cc Norton, B. Doctor, 350cc Triumph and David Skelly, 350cc AJS. I think this is coming round the sweeping left hand bend through the trees up towards the top paddock.

Derek Mortimer, 350cc Norton, Ken Horabin, 350cc AJS and Chris Powell, 250cc Yamaha, 1970. I think this is coming up from the lower end of the course, where there was a sharp left hand bend with a fence and straw bales on the outside. Then it was up this hill towards the left and right flick which was then followed by a sweeping left hand bend just before the top paddock.

Does anyone have any other pictures or information on the racing at Kinmel Park during this time?

If so please email me at davidsmith@expeditus.freeuk.com and I would be pleased to include them on this web page.
